Fiscal Sponsor Vendor Recommendations

Hi Stef - our nonprofit uses UpWork for our designs and some items. What specifically are you thinking or worried about? When you hire someone you have to upload a cc or ach info. Are you worried about the contracts? Happy to chat - cheyanne@aha-projects.org

One of my wonderings is around the account, itself. We have 600+ projects, and I could see a handful being interested in using the platform. Do your projects that use UpWork have different accounts, or does the fiscal sponsor hold the account and work with projects to get the content out/review opportunities/etc?

Hi @Stef Flores - I’d think each project would need its own account b/c the accounts are tied to individual people. There’s no reason why they all couldn’t feed into the SGF bank account — but I don’t know what sort of reporting UpWork offers, which could ultimately be a dealbreaker.

I don’t know for sure, but if UpWork is like 99.9% of the rest of the world, I’m pretty sure it’s not fiscal sponsor friendly

Yes, good point for sure. We are currently evaluating their proposed work to determine whether it would be subject to UBIT.
