Has anyone had success with allowing sponsored proejcts to leverage facebook fundraising. I recall from years ago it was really impossible for sponsored projects to use it as the reporting was super minimal and we had no idea what funds were coming in for what project. We have not tried it in years and im wondering if anyone else has.

We do - trick is to ensure that the project name is in the fundraising campaign name so the funds can be properly attributed.

Thanks! So do you setup up FB fundraisers through the Sponsors account since that is the one approved by FB as a nonprofit and then the project just shares it or is there a way for the Project to set this up on their own?

    - Anyone with a facebook account can set up a fundraiser and as you set it up, Facebook will ask if you are raising money for a nonprofit - at that point you can attach to the FS page so funds come directly to you.

Thanks for the question, and the replies, . That is a great tip about putting the name of the project in the campaign name. The other thing to keep in mind is that -- if you want to properly attribute the funds to the right project -- you can really only run campaigns for one project at any give time.

Thanks - do you say that because the reporting provided by FB (NFG) is essentially all "Anonymous donor through facebook"

That is the issue we ran into at one point is we were just getting disbursements from NFG and all it said was Anonymous Donor which made it very difficult to attribute funds correctly.

yes - that is what I meant, but now that I think about it, with Sarah's suggestion, I guess you could run campaigns for a number of different projects at once, since you'd be able to differentiate where the money coming in should go (based on the campaign name?). I haven't seen a FB report in a few years so they may look different now, but do they still give the campaign name for each transaction?

Love this has come up! We've been applying for fundraising tools through FB for years now. They have started asking us specific questions related to fiscal sponsorship, which is great since they didn't recognize it before. Our practice has been the same as Sarah's above. Here is the info we provide our programs as part of onboarding:

    Hello, {{ contact.firstname }}.

Unfortunately, fiscal Sponsorship does not qualify an organization for Facebook's charitable giving tools. Here is our workaround.

    Create a Fundraiser
    1. Get started at https://www.facebook.com/fundraiser/with_presence/create_dialog/?default_beneficiary_type=charity
    2. Enter and Choose NOPI - Nonprofit Incubator in the search box
    3. Under What's the title of your fundraiser? change the title to reflect your program or organization the funds will benefit
    4. Update Why are you raising money? to explain your cause
    5. Select Create
    6. Email accounting@thenopi.org a link to your fundraiser so we may match donations to your campaign

Network for Good will distribute donations to NOPI - Nonprofit Incubator within 45-75 days after a donation. Please reach out if you have any questions or need assistance with fundraising.
