Hello. I’m wondering what everyone’s timeline is for new project applications. What’s your process and how long does it take? Do you have the ability to speed it up for applicants who need help faster? What are your “took the longest” and “took the shortest” stories?

Our current application process involves getting info from interested groups, sharing it with our Director’s team for input, and then sharing the info with our legal board in advance of their quarterly meeting for final decisions.

The new-group-acceptance-timeline is usually quarterly (when our FS program is open), but it’s been expedited to a 2-week process ‘info-received to accepted-by-board’ when our org wanted to support values-aligned projects that had fast-coming funding or program needs at stake.

We’re still strengthening our FS systems as a nonprofit, we have 25 model A’s, and we stopped accepting new groups half way through Q2 this year.

We move pretty quick - we’re lucky to have board members that respond within a few days to each project request with questions or concerns. The largest delay is usually having a call with the potential project.

@Nathan Hewitt What is pretty quick? A few weeks? Your board members are involved with questions. Are they also part of the calls? Do they have to have a vote?

@Whitney Cook I’m one of three board members and we technically could have a vote, although we are currently only moving forward with unanimous support. Quick is a week or two.
