    Hello all,

Do any of you have experience in a program providing emergency Rental Assistance to individuals? I can only find IRS details on Disaster Relief (with no great definition of what a “Disaster” is). I know we could follow that protocol but its hard to tell if the way the IRS sees a Disaster (more like a natural disaster) is similar to an Emergency (Refugee needs rental assistance, or someone lost their job and needs money for food/rent).

I believe we will need an objective needs-based assessment to back-up why this person is receiving funding but wanted to see if anyone else had thoughts.

    Thanks!

Hi Josh, this may fall under mutual aid. When we’ve issued rental assistance we’ve been told by our lawyer that you can only issue it once per individual (not on an ongoing basis to the same recipient). If you’d like I can see if one of my team members can share more details about when this fell under mutual aid during Covid, and set up a call between you both. Let me know.

Thanks @Jennifer Harrington ! I know during Covid lots of things could happen as it really was a Disaster by all definitions. If you would be willing to share anything related to Mutual Aid (thats a new term I cant find much on) that would be great! They could email me directly at Josh@Missionedge.org

Perhaps a future call on Mutual Aid could be considered! This seems like a nebulous term that is used in many different ways.
