Fiscal Sponsor Vendor Recommendations

  • 1.  Vendors - do not work with list?

    Hi Everyone,

I understand that some organizations have approved lists of vendors. Have any of you had to go in the other direction and ban a vendor from doing work with your organization, including working directly with your projects? How have your projects reacted learning a vendor can no longer contract with your organization, leaving them to find another option?

I ask because we have a vendor who has proven to be unprofessional so we ended the contract but they are now attempting to set up contracts with our projects. The vendor is a lawyer so that adds an extra layer of “you should know better” to their behavior.

    Thanks,
    Jennifer

Well, here I was thinking I’d seen everything. I should know better by now. We have not had this unfortunate situation arise but we do have a database of “vetted” contractors. Our projects are able to leave a review of their experiences but so far we haven’t had anything like you’ve described. ugh…

We haven’t directly had this experience but perhaps an option to move forward is sharing that the vendor does not meet requirements to provide services to your organization or hosted programs and then provide a list of alternative options that programs can choose from. Perhaps helping them to vet vendors and find another option could “soften the blow” of being told they cannot engage with their vendor of choice. It sound like to could be a good time to disseminate vendor requirements including alignment with values and good overall conduct as a requirement.
