As the sector reels from political and financial adversity, more pressure is being put on small nonprofits to merge or die. Too often, Model "A" fiscal sponsorship is overlooked as a more just, equitable, and efficient alternative. 
 
Comprehensive fiscal sponsorship is able to provide most or all of the operational benefits of a merger, while preserving the organization's identity and agency. Smaller nonprofits with strong community roots don't want to see their identity vanish in a merger. And founders and community leaders want to preserve their voice and agency.
